The handle of the Avery and S2 capsules must be in the upright position when travelling in a vehicle with the capsule installed directly on the vehicle seat. If either of these capsules is being used on the base unit, it is optional to have the handle in the upright position or in the forward position, as explained in the below information taken from the Avery Capsule Use & Care Guide updated November 2021. If you have the original Edwards & Co Capsule, the model prior to the S2, please read on below to establish the correct handle position for this capsule.
To determine which capsule you have, please read this FAQ:
Which Edwards & Co capsule do I have?
If you have an original Edwards & Co, prior to the S2 and Avery Capsules, the position of the handle will differ depending on whether you are using the capsule directly on the vehicle seat or in the base unit.
When using the original Edwards & Co capsule directly on the vehicle seat, the handle must be in the "Handle Up" position as illustrated above.
If you are using the original Edwards & Co capsule in a base unit, the handle must be in the "Handle Forward" position as illustrated above.
